CLASS OF 2020
We congratulate all of our 2020 Brandon Magalassi Memorial Scholarship recipients!
Each one is a champion and advocate for suicide awareness and prevention. They are making a difference in their communities!
Chloe is a graduating senior from Rejoice Christian School in Owasso. Chloe’s memorial scholarship is given in Memory of Floyd Jozwiak, father of Michele Magalassi, Co-founder of the Magalassi Foundation.
Chloe is a Ben Carson Scholar and has won numerous awards including the Association of Christian Schools International Creative Writing Contest Superior Award. She is a star athlete and was named the Eagles Defensive Player of the Year in 2019. When she’s not studying or playing sports, Chloe volunteers in her community through various mission projects.
Chloe plans to attend Oklahoma Baptist University in the fall and study nursing.
Nathan is a graduating senior from Rejoice Christian School. Nathan plans to attend Oklahoma State University in the fall and work towards his Chemical Engineering degree. Go Pokes!
Maggie is a graduate of Owasso High School. She has participated in mock trial competitions since she was a freshman. Her mock trial awards span from 2016 to 2020. In 2020, Maggie’s mock trial team won the state championship! Maggie also serves the Owasso community through Urban Soul, helping the elderly, food banks and local projects. She and her family have generously hosted two French students through the Owasso High foreign exchange program.
In the fall, Maggie will attend Pepperdine University and major in international studies and minor in French studies.
Isabel is a graduating senior from Owasso High School. Isabel’s scholarship is given in Honor of Emily Goble, founding member and friend of the Magalassi Foundation.
Isabel has been active in student council and has won the Academic All-Conference Award, both in her sophomore and senior years! Isabel also won the Mock Trial State Championship and broke a record at Nationals for Oklahoma! In her spare time, Isabel likes to volunteer at the YMCA, where she is passionate about helping immigrants connect with resources.
Upon graduation, Isabel plans to attend the University of Arkansas to study biology, as well as pre-medical studies.
Jennifer is a graduating senior from Owasso High School. Jennifer’s scholarship is given in Memory of Nathan Rosa, son of Mike and MaryAnn Rosa of Owasso.
Jennifer is a member of the National Honor Society. She was recognized as a top 10 member of the Voice of Owasso in 2017 and 2018. She was also recognized as the Student of the Year in choir in 2017.
Jennifer is very active in her community. She is involved in the Second Saturday group at Asbury United Methodist Church in which she offers her time and service to area Tulsans in need. She is also the President of her Youth Team at her home church of Owasso First United Methodist Church. Jennifer has a heart for children and volunteers at local elementary schools. She has a heart for animals as well, volunteering at Wildheart Ranch and Owasso Feline Rescue.
In the fall, Jennifer plans to attend the University of Tulsa and study music and arts and entertainment management.
Miles Bonine is a graduate of Rejoice Christian School.
Miles has joined the United States Air Force. We are so proud of him and appreciate Miles for serving our country!
Zoe is a graduating senior from Collinsville High School. Zoe’s scholarship is given in Honor of the Boggs and Turner families in Memory of their sons Dakota and Darin, who were lost to suicide.
Zoe has won numerous awards in technology including First Place in Coding at the 2019 Technology Student Association State Conference and First Place in the Game Development Category at Tulsa University’s 2019 Computer Simulation and Gaming Conference. Zoe is involved in her community and serves as a trainer for Anthem Service Dogs and the Technology Student Association as Speaker of the House. She has also been involved in Girl Scouts and STEM Club.
Zoe plans to attend Tulsa University in the fall and study Computer Science.
Emmy is a graduate of Rejoice Christian School.
Emmy plans to attend Northeastern State University in the fall and study nutrition.
Wade Gerhardt is a graduate of Rejoice Christian School.
In the fall, Wade plans to attend Tulsa University and major in chemical engineering.
Riley Walker is a graduate of Rejoice Christian School.
Riley plans to attend Southwest Baptist University in the fall and major in criminal justice.
